Little Steps Orthotics Lab in Al Ghubra, Muscat is an independent orthotics facility specializing in custom Knee Ankle Foot Orthoses (KAFO) for children and adults.
Every case is evaluated by a combined team—an orthotist and a physiotherapist—whether the patient is enrolled in our physiotherapy programme or referred from outside.
This collaborative assessment ensures accurate brace selection and proper alignment with real-life functional needs.

We primarily provide two types of KAFO:

• Walking KAFO (Functional KAFO)
• Night / Stretch KAFO

🎯 When Do We Use a Walking KAFO?

Typical indications for Walking KAFO include:

• Cerebral palsy with significant knee instability, such as:

  • crouch gait
  • genu recurvatum
  • valgus or varus knee deformity

• Severe quadriceps weakness, including:

  • post-polio cases
  • certain spinal cord injuries
  • advanced neuropathies

• Post-operative lower limb deformity corrections that require combined knee–ankle support

• Children or adults who need enhanced knee and ankle stability for safer standing and improved walking

The Night KAFO is mainly used to maintain knee extension and prevent or reduce flexion contractures in cases such as:

• Children with cerebral palsy and early knee flexion contractures
• Post-operative lengthening or deformity correction to maintain the surgical result
• Long-term sitting or wheelchair use with persistent knee flexion

• Controlled extension position providing a gentle, prolonged stretch
• Comfortable padding to protect bony prominences
